The rush around the crowded convention floor to snag the one or twenty SDCC exclusives can be equal parts a rush of adrenaline in anticipation of bagging that one limited edition goodie and a frustrating, joyless, line-sitting slog.
I wanted to put a little list together of what I consider the highlights from this year. Keep in mind, there are literally 100’s of exclusives from tee shirts and toys to bottle openers and lunch boxes, so don’t consider this list a complete representation.

Aloha! It’s a been a little bit since our last review. Life has been crazy this past few months with a move and a baby on the way, as well as taking my first official steps into toy design! All good things of course, but sadly they’ve taken a lot of my time and attention away from kicking out the quality reviews you guys and gals have come to expect from RtR.
Believe it or not, I’ve actually written about 10 different, almost complete reviews in my spare time over the past couple months. Toys from 3A, Hot Toys, Acid Rain and a few others have all been met with my critical eye and slathered with my remarks. I just haven’t had time to take the photos/shoot the videos and publish the darn things.
With life showing zero signs of slowing down, I decided I needed to bite the bullet and do whatever it took to find the time to get a new review published! I was so excited to finally have Hot Toys Star-Lord pop up on my front porch last week, I figured if there’s ever a good excuse to stay up into the wee hours just so I can break the wheel, this is it! I can’t believe just a week ago I was taking my first strides into the belly of preview night at San Diego Comic Con 2014. As usual, there was an almost insurmountable amount of stuff to gawk at and photograph, incredible cosplay and more things I wanted to buy than what my wallet (and wife) would allow.
Here’s a handful of words about how the show treated me.
Toy wise, I actually left this year with relatively little packed away in my suitcase. I happily picked up the coveted 1000toys Prototype.. which was my #1 choice for toy exclusive this year. (Review to come) Honestly, the only other exclusive I really wanted I completely missed out on simply by virtue of failing to pick it up as soon as I walked in the door, Play Art Kai’s Metal Gear Solid Punished Snake. After seeing the full color version at Play Art’s booth, I wasn’t so bummed out as he looks a lot better painted up than the faux bronze job on the exclusive. I know I’ll be picking him up once he’s available at retail.
